The Difference Between Sadness and Depression in Teenagers

Adolescence is a period of intense change — in the body, in relationships, in identity. It is natural for a teenager to go through periods of sadness, irritability, or withdrawal. But where is the line between the normal sadness of development and clinical depression that requires intervention?
